Weekly update 9/23/09
Car repairs+house repairs+immigration trips = busy week.
Sam’s visa was approved last week so we needed to go get it and try to apply for his I – card. But the car really needed some work. I really didn’t have space and tools to do the work necessary so I needed a mechanic I could trust. Well there was one that I was led to believe I could trust but he was on the other side of town. (1.5 to 3 hrs travel time) Really hated to take it that far and drop it off knowing I was going to have to go and pick it up in a day or two. But It seemed like the good option so Off I went to drop off the car. Then it was “done” in a few days so back I went to pick it up. Not drivable. OOPS they said and made an adjustment, so I drive it home. Next day one of the parts they put on fails because they used a junk part. So back over to drop it off. Then few days later go back and pick it up. OK it runs better now but the window they fixed is back to just as bad or worse than when they fixed it. I finally decided it was not worth taking it all the way back over there just for the window. In a few weeks when we have the money I’ll get the good part from the Toyota dealership and fix that myself.
In the middle of all that I spent a day at Immigration. Sam’s visa was done which meant after paying $100.00 I was ready to figure out his I card. When we started this whole mess we had to purchase an I-card for him which cost about $75.00. Now that his visa is done we needed to get the I card fixed to match the visa. OH you cant change an I card it must be terminated and a new one applied for… Now another 75.00 But His visa and I card are tied to our visa which needs to be renewed in February… so in February we start over but we have heard that renewal is easier than application… we hope.
OH yes and I ended up doing some repair work to our sink, shower, and toilet. We did most of our normal studying for language, and the guy that was supposed to preach on Sunday had an infected tooth removed during the week so I had to preach on Sunday. It was a busy and expensive week.
This coming week should be slower and cheaper.
Thanks for your prayers.
