Weekly update 7/23/08

This week in the life of Jeff and Heather.

Termites!

We had been noticing some evidence of termites in our apartment so we mentioned it to our land lady, and she had workers come to take care of it last Wednesday.  They ended up taking down quite a bit of our ceiling but they did a very thorough job and even found the nest and the queen.  They cleaned up most of the mess it created and we spent an evening doing some more cleanup, but we praise God for a land lady who was at least willing to take care of the problem.   Whatever they used to kill the termites also seems to have greatly depleted our ant population, which is a secondary benefit.

Long term visas.

I am writing this on the bus going to the office where the process begins.  First we have to form a corporation and get it recognized by the SEC here in the Philippines.  Then, that organization can be our "sponsor" and request for us to be here as missionaries.  Then we can apply for our missionary visas.  We have a trial run of the paper work filled out and I am on my way to go ask questions about whether or not I filled it out correctly.  Please pray for this process.

Language school?

Please keep praying about this.  We are making progress but we have run into an issue with classroom space.  They are short on classroom space and want to put us in one small room with 3 other language classes going on at the same time.  When I (Jeff) can hear what is going on in all the other classes I just cant concentrate on what is going on in my class.  We are going to discuss options with them this week.  Please pray that God will work out a situation where we can learn the language well.

Thank you all for your prayers.
