August Update
Dear praying friends,
Your prayers for the month of August were obviously effective. We started out with a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation to South Carolina. While down there, we visited the churches of family and friends and were encouraged and challenged by both churches. Praise the Lord! God protected us while traveling down there and back, and was gracious to give us a time of refreshment and enjoyment. One note on God’s protection while traveling:
On our return trip I (Jeff) wanted to stop at the Smokey Mountain Knife Works for a short bit of looking around. We exited off the interstate and made our small detour which all in all took about 45 min. When we got back to the interstate it was a parking lot. We then discovered that just up the road there was a very serious accident which had caused a 10 mile backup. We went ahead and ate lunch, and by the time we finished lunch the interstate was moving fine. We praise the Lord that at the least we were not stuck in traffic, and at the worst we were not the ones involved in the serious accident. God is gracious to us all the time.
After returning from vacation we spent the next two Sundays involved in ministry. First we were able to minister a Sunday in Brazil, Indiana, and catch up with some friends there. The next Sunday we had an enjoyable meeting out in the St. Louis area. The St. Louis meeting taught us a valuable lesson. ALWAYS !! check the directions. Jeff got the directions mixed up and we ended up calling the pastor while in route to reconfirm
directions. Because of this we were 10-15 min late for Sunday school. The church and pastor did not seem upset, but it certainly was embarrassing.
This upcoming month holds one scheduled meeting in Monticello, Ill. We will also be spending a Sunday at our home church, where Jeff will be filling pulpit for his father. Please keep praying for our team members. We know God has them out there, we are just waiting for Him to show them to us. Also, please keep praying for our monthly support level, it hasn’t seemed to move in quite a while. We are trying to be patient and wait for God’s timing, but sometimes it is very hard.
