Carrying a burden.

update 9/1/2010

August is now done which means only 1 month and a few days 'till we return to the Philippines.
God protected us again through the month of August.  We drove about 4000 miles, enjoyed time with family and friends, and reported to some great churches.

Our  big request is that you keep praying for team members.  We are sure God has somebody for us to work with but we still don't have any official team members yet.

With September starting and October 5th approaching we have begun to pack things up and prepare several boxes of stuff that we intend to ship to ourselves.    Please pray for us as we try to get lots done between now and when we leave.  When we originally planned our furlough we intended to leave the last two weeks before we left the States empty of meetings.  Things just didn't work out that way and we leave Indiana on the 30th of September and we have meetings scheduled all the way up to Sept 27th.  OH well God knows what we need.
Thanks for all your prayers.

OOPS

WOW I just checked and realized that I have not posted any updates here since we left the field.  Sorry for that.  I have been updating our facebook stuff more and neglecting this I guess.

We have been pretty busy with the first 3 months of furlough and the next 3 appear to be just as busy.  We have met with several of our supporting churches and have several more to meet with.  We have had one meeting that was with a non supporting church and a few more scheduled.  Please be praying for those as we try to raise some new support.

We have enjoyed 1 week of vacation with my (Jeff's) parents and have a week scheduled with Heather's parents in August.

Now that you are somewhat up to date on the major stuff here goes a more normal weekly update.

Last weekend we had a meeting with Beech Grove Baptist Church that went well.  It was close to where we are staying and therefore made for a nice easy Sunday.  This week we are getting some stuff ready to have some family and friends come visit us for the 4th.  I am having a large group of guys over to celebrate on the 3rd with lots of target shooting.

Thank you all for your prayers.

final arrangements

The last week of our first term in the Philippines.  A lot of things have to be in place in order to leave your home and life for 6 months and expect it all to still be here when you get back.  We are looking forward to furlough and will be glad to take a break from Manila.  Manila is a more crowded city than either of us have ever lived in and we are just looking forward to taking a break from the noise and smells of such a large overcrowded city.  That being said… looking at our schedule for furlough I’m not sure we will have lots of  “down” time, but we are sure God will provide what we need.  Please be praying for our trip back to the States.

We get on an airplane 30 min after midnight on our Monday night (technically Tuesday morning)  Then fly 5 hours up to Seoul Korea.  Then we have a 5 hr layover in Seoul and then take a 12 hour flight to Atlanta.  This is actually a really good route with less time in the air than some flights we have taken in the past, but we have never flown this far with Sam.  He is getting really active and hates to sit still for very long.  Please pray for us as we try to keep him safe, comfortable, quiet and maintain our sanity on this flight.

Thanks for all the prayers.  Hopefully we will see each of you during our time in the States.
